Rampage dominate Rebels, 27-7, for second straight WPC victory
November 24, 2017
The Midwest Rampage thoroughly dominated the Watertown Rebels in the 2017 Winter Pigskin Classic headliner game with a 27-7 win.  The Rampage offense rushed 13 times for 109 yards while through the air the "Bomb Squad" went 10/17 for 191 yards and 3 touchdowns while the Black Plague Defense limited the Rebels to a mere 20 yards rushing and 75 yards passing.  Quarterbacks Ben Jass and Brandon Estabrook were 9/14 for 116, 2 TDs, 1 INT and 1/3 for 75 yards, 1 TD, respectively while the receiving corps were led by Derrick Jackson (3 receptions for 122 yards, 1 TD), Jeromy Keehn (3 for 34 yards, 1 TD, and Chris McNiel (2 for 39 yards, 1 TD).  On the ground, Estabrook rushed 3 times for 67 yards and 1 TD while running back Cody Morris lugged the ball 8 times for 27 yards.

Defensively, the Rampage--who without a defensive coordinator mainly led themselves
were spearheaded by Ben Scott (6 tackles 1.5 QB sacks, 1 fumble recovery), Shon Osborn (6 tackles, 1.5 QB sacks, 1 INT), John Elkin (6 tackles, 1 QB sack, 1 PD), and Kris Chesnut (5 tackles, 2 PDs).  Kicker Kyle Swartz was 3/4 for extra points.

"It was a very good, although at times sloppy, game for us," said Rampage Head Coach Josh Christensen who coached the game remotely; to note, Jass served as the interim head coach at the game.  "We look forward to 2018," Christensen added, "as we have unfinished business as a team and organization."  A highlight film of the game can be seen here:

Rampage winning streak ends at 8, still remains #1 seed for upcoming playoffs
July 2, 2017
The Midwest Rampage winning streak, dating back to the 2016 WPC, ended at 8 as the Med City Freeze (7-1) edged Midwest, 22-19 in the 2017 regular season finale.  Going into the game, the Rampage knew to be the #1 seed in the East they either had to defeat the Freeze or lose by 11 or less and therefore played a more conservative game, especially in the 2nd half after taking a 16-7 lead by halftime.  Due to the Rampage beating the Freeze earlier in the season, 20-11, as well as beating the SE Minnesota Warhawks 49-18 (whereas the Freeze narrowly defeated them three weeks ago, 21-20, the Rampage will be hosting 1st Round--and if they win--Semifinal games at home.  The 7-1 record is the best regular-season record in team history and follows 2015's 6-1 mark.

New Defensive and Special Teams Coordinators appointed
June 2, 2017
Vilas Morris and Jeromy Keehn have been named the new Defensive and Special Teams Coordinators, respectively, of the Midwest Rampage. These new appointments, effective immediately, is a result of former head coach Matt Girdley, due to professional obligations, stepping down from both head and defensive coaching duties. Morris, a former Marine and long-time coach, takes over leading the Black Plague Defense that through the first four games of the season, ranks second in the SPFL by only allowing 11.25 points per game. Keehn, a standout wide receiver for the Rampage since 2015 who also has a wealth of coaching experience, suffered an injury earlier this year that will sideline him for most of the 2017 season but paved the way for him to still help the squad.

"Both Morris and Keehn will do a fine job," said newly appointed Head Coach Josh Christensen who also serves the Offensive Coordinator, "and the fact that we now have a coach responsible for overseeing every phase of the game is only a plus." Prior to Keehn becoming the Special Teams Coordinator, both Girdley and Christensen split that duty.

Girdley, the unanimous 2015 SPFL "Coach of the Year", amassed a 24-11 record since taking over head duties in 2014 including going 15-5 during the 2014-15 seasons. As well, he coached the team to three straight Semifinal appearances in 2014, '15, and '16. Furthermore, he installed a new defense this season that has limited Midwest's first four opponent to 14, 8, 12, and 11 points, respectively.

Team President and linebacker John Elkin said of Girdley, "Matt did an excellent job of leading this team the past 3 1/2 seasons--even through our challenging 2016 campaign--and since the 2016 WPC game in December, he really stepped things up as both a HC and as the new Defensive Coordinator. Yes, he will be missed but he is and will always be a part of our team. Josh, Vilas, and Jeromy all are excellent leaders and students of the game and except for titles, nothing has changed for the Rampage."

Midwest (4-0) travels to Rockwell, IA, this Saturday to face the North Iowa Bucks (1-3) at 4:00 pm.

Rampage melt Freeze 20-11, remain unbeaten in East Division; Girdley steps down as head coach but remains with team
May 23, 2017
The Midwest Rampage (4-0) defeated the previously unbeaten Med City Freeze (3-1) 20-11 and now sits alone at the top spot in the East Division of the SPFL; with the season now halfway over, only the Rampage and Buffalo Ridge Wildcats remain undefeated.  "We're right were we wanted to be," said head coach Matt Girdley, "and while it's nice to be 4-0, it's time to reset everything and get ready for the next half of the season."  To note Girdley, who has led the Rampage to a 24-11 record since 20121, is stepping down from leading the Rampage due to professional reasons but will remain with the team and in his place offensive coordinator Josh Christensen has been elevated to head coach.  The Rampage now enjoy a BYE week before resuming action on June 3rd versus the North Iowa Bucks in Rockwell, Iowa.

Rampage put Grizzlies to sleep with 47-12 win
May 14, 2017
The Midwest improved to 3-0 after smashing their host, the Albert Lea Grizzlies (0-4), on a hot Saturday evening in Albert Lea.  The Rampage built a 33-0 halftime lead on the strength of their defense including FS Maliek Ketchen's 35 yard interception return for a touchdown as well as quarterbacks Ben Jass and Brandon Estabrook who threw touchdowns to multiple receivers during the game including Derrick Jackson and Gunnar Wyatt.  In the second half not only did running back Ross Haren find paydirt on two occasions, but kicker Kyle Swartz nailed a 30 and 37 yard field goal.  The Rampage next travel to Rochester, MN, to face the Med City Freeze (3-0) for the top spot in the East Division of the SPFL; kickoff is at 7:00 pm at Rochester Technical College.

Midwest Rampage improve to 2-0 with 27-8 win over Warhawks
May 4, 2017
Despite less-than-ideal weather conditions and getting down 8-0 to start the game, the Midwest Rampage (2-0) scored 27 unanswered points to defeat the SE Minnesota Warhawks (0-1) 27-8 last Saturday in Carlisle.  The Rampage now enjoy a BYE this weekend before embarking on a 3-game away tour versus the Albert Lea Grizzlies (May 13), Med City Freeze (May 20), and North Iowa Bucks (June 3).

Rampage win 7th straight season opener with 20-14 victory over North Iowa Bucks
April 23, 2017
Since dropping their first-ever game in 2010, the Midwest Rampage won their seventh straight season opener, this time a somewhat sloppy contest over the the North Iowa Bucks, 20-14.  Leading 20-8 with several minutes left, the Bucks scored on a broken pass coverage play to narrow Midwest's lead but the Rampage offense earned two 1st downs to seal the win.  Multiple penalties as well as three missed extra points along with two field goals uncharacteristically plagued the Rampage.  "We will get better," said Head Coach Matt Girdley, "no excuses but not having practice last (Easter) weekend didn't help."  Offensive Coordinator Josh Christensen added, "There were many positives including being able to run the ball, our defense which played overall very well, and our special teams."  The Rampage return to action next Saturday at 7:00 pm for their second consecutive home game at Carlisle High School.

Rampage ready for 2017 season
April 9, 2017
The Midwest Rampage, Carlisle’s own minor league football team, is gearing up for 2017 season that is fast approaching as Southern Plains Football League play officially kicks off on April 22nd. The Rampage, in their 8th season of play and fourth as members of the SPFL, initially played out of Webster City from 2009-2015 before moving to Carlisle in 2016. The squad currently has approximately 25 team members whose ages range from 20 to 48 and who travel from all over the Midwest including Burlington, Omaha, Ottumwa, and Mason City, to suit up for the Black and Orange.

“We’re looking forward to our second season in Carlisle,” said fourth year head coach Matt Girdley who lives in Cedar Rapids, “as our facilities our top notch and the support we received last year for home games—despite rainy and extremely hot weather, was appreciated.”

The team has been practicing since the beginning of March and is coming off an impressive 24-19 victory over the defending SPFL and National Champions the South Central Hawgs in the Winter Pigskin Classic game that took place last December at US Bank Stadium in Minnesota. “Huge win for us,” added Girdley, “as we all believe it lays the foundation for this 2017 campaign.”

Based out of southern Minnesota, the SPFL is entering its 22nd season of operation and consists of teams from Iowa, Minnesota, and South Dakota. SPFL teams compete in full contact football officially classified as “minor league” which is also known as “adult amateur” or sometimes referred to as “semi-pro,” but regardless players do not get paid to play. This season the SPFL consists of ten teams of which eight (8) will qualify for the playoffs which are seeded according to final records while also using a strength of schedule formula.

The 2016 season witnessed the Rampage advance to the SPFL Semifinals for the third consecutive season despite a mediocre regular season full of close closes and key injuries. “Last year was a reality check,” said offensive coordinator Josh Christensen, “as it was obvious going 15-5 the previous two years gave us a sense of entitlement that all we had to do was show up and win. Going 3-5 during the regular season humbled us and I believe provided the fire for many players to get better in the off-season of which the WPC was evidence of that.”

Despite their 3-5 record last season, the Rampage—a #5 seed in the SPFL playoffs—knocked off the then-#3 seed and 7-1 Med City Freeze in the 1st Round, 28-18, to advance to the Semifinals where they eventually lost to the #1 and 10-0 Buffalo Ridge Wildcats, 28-17.

While the roster is not as deep as it has been in previous years, virtually every player on the squad save a few have a great deal of experiencing ranging from offensive lineman John Miller (15 years) to kicker and former Nebraska Husker Chuck Tack (14 years) to linebacker John Elkin  (10 seasons).  “It’s all about having fun, being competitive, and playing a game I love,” said Elkin on why he keeps playing, “and while I certainly have less games in front of me than behind, it’s been worth the sacrifices.”

The squad will play four regular season home games this year—all on Saturdays at Carlisle High School starting at 7:00 pm—along with the below schedule:

2017 Season:  Rampage in East Division of SPFL
January 18, 2017
At the recent annual Southern Plains Football League Team Meeting, it was decided that for the 2017 season the SPFL would be split into an East and West division of which the Rampage will be part of the East and includes:

Albert Lea Grizzlies (Albert Lea, MN)
     Med City Freeze (Rochester, MN)
     Midwest Rampage (Carlisle, IA)
     North Iowa Bucks (Rockford, IA)
     SE Minnesota Warhawks (Austin, MN)

"This is an excellent division as based on both competition and travel," said Rampage Head Coach Matt Girdley, "as our longest road trip will be 3 hours to play the Freeze with every other opponent ranging from approximately 1 1/2 hours to 2 1/4 hours." More information about the upcoming 2017 season will soon be announced.

Rampage defeat defending national champs South Central Hawgs in slugfest
December 18, 2016
The Midwest Rampage upended the South Central Hawgs in the headliner game of the 2016 Winter Pigskin Classic held at US Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, Minnesota on Saturday, December 17, 2016.  After coming off a 4-6 season in which the Rampage advanced to the SPFL Semifinals for the third straight year, the team reloaded for the WPC with the return of former standouts along with the addition of new players.  The bitter rivals stood toe-to-toe the entire game and the Rampage drew first blood when they took an early 6-0 lead in the 1st quarter after QB Ben Jass threw a 10 yard TD pass to WR Gunnar Wyatt.

The Hawgs then responded in the 2nd quarter with a 3 yard run to tie the game; both teams experienced difficulty the entire game kicking-wise.   On the ensuing kickoff, RB Ross Haren set a new team record when he returned the kickoff 92 yards for the score to put the Rampage up, 12-6, at halftime.  In the 3rd quarter, the Hawgs' quarterback, Jon Wolf, scored on a long run as the South Central then assumed a 13-12 lead.  The Rampage then scored mid-4th quarter on another Jass-to-Wyatt connection, this one of 6 yards and while PK Chuck Tack's two point run failed, the Rampage retook the lead, 18-13.  The Hawgs then took their first lead of the night with a long touchdown pass with just under 4 minutes to go up 19-18 after DB Tyler Mosbach knocked down a pass during the two point conversion.

The Rampage then drove into Hawg territory before Tack then attempted a 59 yard field goal which was blocked and recovered by the Hawgs inside their own 20 with the apparent win in sight.  However, the Football Gods decided to rectify some previous wrongs and on their first play, the Hawgs running back fumbled the ball which was eventually recovered by Mosbach.  Several plays later Jass then connected with WR Jeromy Keehn on a 4 yard touchdown to put the Rampage up 24-19 after another failed two point try; with only :05 seconds left when the Hawgs eventually got the ball, LB Joe Cason intercepted Wolf for the Rampage victory.

"To the victor goes the spoils," said Head Coach Matt Girdley, "if you want to be the best, you have to beat the best and we did that tonight.  Hats off to my team for getting the win, 100% well-deserved and it was clear tonight who was the best team on the field."  Offensive Coordinator Josh Christensen commented, "I felt really good about our game plan and we all really felt if we could score 21 or more points, we would be in a solid position to win the game."   Defensive Coordinator Marty Hart then added, "Our goal was to shut down Wolf and aside from one play we did that... we constantly hit and put pressure on him and showed him that he wasn't going to run all over us... I'm darn proud of my squad!"

The Rampage will now take some time off before gearing up in late February for the 2017 season that officially kicks off on April 29th, 2017.

Midwest Rampage ready to face defending National Champions this Saturday in Winter Pigskin Classic game in US Bank Stadium
December 11, 2016
Three months of planning, preparation, and practice will come to fruition this Saturday, December 17th as Carlisle’s own adult amateur football team, the Midwest Rampage, square off against the defending NNC National Champions, the South Central Hawgs (Truman, MN) at US Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, MN.  The game, part of the Southern Plains Football League’s all-day Winter Pigskin Classic event, will begin approximately at 7:15 pm and is the last of six games played that day.

“I would say we’re as ready as we’re going to be,” said fourth year head coach Matt Girdley, “as we’ve had a bunch of solid practices.  We have the maximum roster of 50 players and I expect 45 in uniform and ready to go at kickoff.  Most people only ever dream of playing in a pro NFL stadium and yes, while we all know we are not a pro team, it’s still going to be quite an experience playing in the Viking’ stadium despite however challenging the Hawgs will be.”

While this Winter Pigskin Classic game is for both fun and the experience, the Rampage have also used the event as a springboard in respect to building momentum for the upcoming 2017 season after uprooting and relocating to Carlisle from Webster City last 2016 season.  “It was for sure,” added Girdley, “your stereotypical transitional year—we lost some key players and sponsors due to the move while other guys had to take last season off due to personal reasons.  Throw in some new coaches and schemes and all of those things factored into the type of year we had.  However, our October 23rd Open Invite Tryout not only saw us add a bunch of new players, but we now have a core of former, key veterans back as well.  It definitely feels special again and this WPC game has only helped rebuild that winning culture.”

While the history of the Rampage-Hawgs rival includes 5 total games of which four have been decided by 10 or less points—South Central victories in 2014 by scores of 10-7 and then 24-14 in the Semifinals while in 2015 the teams split wins with the Rampage winning 23-20 but losing 21-18 in the Semifinals—the challenge Girdley speaks of has a name and it’s Jon Wolf, the Hawgs’ quarterback.  Wolf, who played collegiately at Minnesota State where he earned NSIC Offensive Player of the Year honors for his efforts as a senior during 2013—recently signed a pro contract with the Arizona Rattlers of the arena Indoor Football League for the Spring 2017 season.  Wolf has also played for the Orlando Predators (AFL) and early last summer and was in the NFL’s Vikings camp before getting cut.  He then joined the Hawgs and led them to the SPFL (and then) NNC National Championship.

“He certainly poises challenge, especially with his running ability,” said longtime Rampage Defensive Coordinator Marty Hart, “he rushed for something like 2,400+ yards and 32 touchdowns in college and also threw for over 4,000 yards and 33 scores.  Added Hart, “For sure, we need to first gang tackle him because he’s a big player physically and at all times we need to keep him in the box because his bread-and-butter is to run, run, and run some more.”

“It all comes down to execution,” said quarterback Ben Jass who hasn't played for the Rampage since the 2015 season, “linemen have to block, our running backs have to hit the holes, and our receivers have to make catches.  The job of us quarterbacks, Brandon Estabrook and I, is put everyone in a position to be successful and that includes not making mistakes so our defense and kicker can do their thing.  It’s really that simple.”

“No matter what happens,” summarized Girdley, “I want our guys to have fun.  If we can have a great team game and happen to get the win, awesome!  But the bottom line is we play this game for fun so what’s the worst thing that can happen aside from serious injury?  We lose?  That’s nothing compared to the fact that every day across this country we have veterans, police officers, etc. put their lives on the line… so people like us can play a game we love.”

For anyone who can’t make it to the event, the Rampage-Hawg game will also be video webcast by Gemini Studios at:  https://boxcast.tv/view/south-central-hawgs-vs-midwest-rampage-121716-652993 and a link will be available on the official social media of the Rampage including their website, www.midwestrampage.com, and their Facebook and Twitter pages:  @MidwestRampage.

Carlisle’s own adult amateur football team, the Midwest Rampage, will be facing the South Central Hawgs out of Truman, Minnesota, in the upcoming SPFL Winter Pigskin Classic in US Bank Stadium, new home of the NFL’s Minnesota Vikings.  This all-day event takes place on Saturday, December 7, 2016 and kicks off at 9:00 am when the North Iowa Knights (Pomeroy) take on the NW Iowa Bulldogs (Aurelia) and features a total of six games.  The Rampage match up against the Hawgs, the defending Southern Plains Football League and National Champions, is the headliner game which will start at approximately 8:00 pm.

“This is a huge event for the SPFL,” said SPFL Commissioner Jay Doyscher who runs the league out of   Fairmont, Minnesota, “and the fact that SPFL is one of the first non-NFL groups to play a game—let alone six—in the new Viking’s stadium is a monumental occasion for our teams and players.”  Annually held every winter, the WPC has been on hold the past two years since the Vikings demolished the MetroDome, but now with US Bank Stadium open, the WPC has resumed.  “Our positive history hosting the WPC was a major factor in the US Bank Stadium organization allowing us to play there again,” Doyscher added, “especially considering the next day the Vikings play the Colts.  It’s an all-weekend event for the facility.”

The Rampage-Hawgs pairing was based on many aspects such as the final 2016 season records and playoff advancement, but the main factor was matching teams that would be competitive against one another; while the Rampage did finish 3-5 last season and were a #6 seed in the playoffs, their 28-18 victory in the 1st Round victory over the 7-1 and #3 Med City Freeze (Rochester, MN) plus a dogfight 28-17  loss versus the 10-0 and #1 Buffalo Ridge Wildcats in the Semifinals, was eye-opening across the league.

“Basically, we got healthy for the playoffs,” said Rampage Head Coach Matt Girdley, “as during the season we had several key injuries which contributed to our lost four close losses.  For the WPC and 2017 season, we’ve already signed many outstanding former and new players… so people know what we’re bringing to the table, especially against the Hawgs.”  Aside from the Hawgs' 35-6 victory last season, the previous four meetings between these teams were all decided by 10 or less points and include 2014 South Central victories of 10-7 and 24-14 (Semifinals) while in 2015 the teams split triumphs as the Rampage won their first meeting, 23-20 but then lost in the Semifinals 21-18.

“Everyone is expecting this to be a great game for many reasons,” summarized Doyscher, “not only because they are the only two teams to advance to the Semifinals the past three seasons, but they both are successful organizations; while the Hawgs can call themselves the defending champions, the Rampage can claim to be the only SPFL team to beat every other team the past 3 seasons.  It’s going to be epic.”

The Rampage will soon be holding an Open Invite Practice/Tryout on Sunday, October 23 from 10:00 – 11:30 am at Carlisle High School.  The practice/tryout is open to anyone ages 18 and older who is interested in becoming part of the team.  At the October 1 meeting, the SPFL approved a vote for teams to have a maximum of 50 players for the Winter Pigskin Classic and the Rampage are nearing that mark.

“We currently have about 56 players on the roster,” said Team President/CEO and middle linebacker John Elkin who also serves as Carlisle Middle School’s principal, “and while in the next three weeks we’ll lose some players, we’ll also gain some.  I expect we will have the maximum allowed by the event.”  Girdley added, “We’re looking to add quality players, especially in the offensive line and defensive back position but above all else, we would really like to get more local players on the roster.”

Participants should dress appropriately which includes shorts and/or loose fitting clothing, cleats, and a helmet (if they have one).  There is no charge to participate in the practice/tryout, but players will be required to sign a waiver and release of liability and assumption of risk and indemnity agreement.  Participants are encouraged to arrive early as the practice/tryout begins promptly at 10:00 am.

The practice/tryout will consist of both current and new players and will focus on the review/installation of offensive and defensive packages that will be used for the 2017 season that runs from late April until mid-July.  The season consists of 8 regular season games plus the SPLF playoffs which conclude with a championship game; the SPFL champion then plays the winner of an Oregon league for the National Championship.  The October 23 practice/tryout is also for those who want to play in the WPC.

Players interested in attending the Open Invite Practice/Tryout and/or joining the team are encouraged to pre-register at the team’s official website, www.midwestrampage.com.  As well, pre-sale tickets for the game against the Hawgs in US Bank Stadium are currently $15 but after November 3 the price increases to $20.  “One ticket is good for all six games,” Elkin added, “which is very inexpensive to go watch a bunch of football games in an NFL stadium.”

Inquiries for either Winter Pigskin Classic tickets or about the upcoming tryout may be emailed to:  admin@midwestrampage.com.

Rampage fall in Semifinals, 28-17, to Wildcats; Girdley to coach STARS in SPFL All-Star Game
July 4, 2016
Facing a five hour road trip and the #1 seed, 9-0 Buffalo Ridge Wildcats for the first time this season, the Midwest Rampage gave the home team everything they had before falling 28-17.  The Rampage dug themselves an early hole by allowing the Wildcats' high-octane offense score quickly within the first five minutes of the game to take a 14-0 lead, but then recovered but seemingly always a step behind as the score was 21-10 at halftime.  In the 2nd half, the Rampage's vaunted "Black Plague Defense" turned up the pressure but it wasn't enough with the final score being 28-17.  "With several close losses and the injuries we suffered during the regular season," said Rampage Head Coach Matt Girdley, "we were probably lucky to even make the playoffs as a #6 seed.  However, we did get healthy and traveled well as proven by our 28-18 win over the #3 and 7-1 Freeze in the 1st Round.  We definitely had a chance to beat the Wildcats, but hats off to them as they are 10-0 for a reason."  Rampage Team President/CEO/MLB John Elkin echoed Girdley's thoughts:  "Despite having a subpar regular season, we showed what Rampage Football was all about once the playoffs started.  I'd also like to thank all of our fans, sponsors, and supporters for the 2016 season."  Although the Rampage closed the season out with a 4-6 record, their advancement to the Semifinals is only matched by the South Central Hawgs in the same time span.  "What we've done the past three years," Elkin added, " by going 8-3, 7-2, and 4-6 with three Semifinal appearances, along with the fact that we are the only team in the SPFL to beat every other team in the league the past three years, says all that needs to be said about this organization."

Also, with the Semifinal loss, Girdley will be the Head Coach of the STARS squad while North Iowa Bucks Head Coach Brent Hanson whose squad also lost in the Semifinals, 41-6, to the South Central Hawgs, will be the STRIPES head coach in the first ever SPFL All-Star Game.  Congrats to Girdley and the six Rampage players who will be in participating in the game!

Rampage turn up heat to melt Freeze's title hopes with 28-18 victory, advance to SPFL Semifinals for third year in a row
June 26, 2016
With their meek 3-5 record and #6 seed, the Midwest Rampage traveled to Rochester, MN, take on the #3 seed and 7-1 Med City Freeze in the 1st Round of the SPFL Playoffs.  Essentially, after losing to the Freeze twice during the season, 27-10 and 32-14 respectively, the Rampage had no chance, right? Right???  WRONG.  While the Rampage didn't dominate the first three quarters, they never gave up; down 6-3 at halftime, the Black and Orange made several mistakes on defense to give the Freeze an 18-3 advantage at the end of the 3rd quarter.  However, we all know football is a 4 quarter game and in the 4th quarter the Rampage scored 25 straight points on the strength of their defense, special teams, and offense!  DB Ray Parker returned an interception for a touchdown to make it a 10-18 game.  Then, PK Chuck Tack nailed a 27 yard field goal to narrow the Freeze's lead, 13-18.  After the Black Plague Defense established the "No Fly Zone"--the squad collected EIGHT (8) interceptions including 4 by DB Herb Bolden who broke his own team record!!!--WR Derrick Jackson returned a punt 95 yards to put the Rampage up 21-18 with a successful 2-point conversion.  The Rampage offense then scored to put the game away, 28-18!!!  The team now advances to the SPFL Semifinals for the third year in a row and will face the #1 seed and 9-0 Buffalo Ridge Wildcats in Lake Benton on Saturday, July 2nd at 6:00 pm.  #RampageUp

In scorching heat, Rampage defeat Warhawks, 38-20; now prepare for SPFL playoffs as #6 seed
June 19, 2016
In on-field temperatures as high as 103 at kickoff, the Midwest Rampage (3-5) closed out the 2016 regular season with a 38-20 victory over the SE Minnesota Warhawks (1-7).  The Rampage are a #6 seed for the upcoming playoffs and will face #3 seed Med City Freeze (7-1) this Saturday, June 25 at 7:00 pm in Rochester, MN; in their two games this season, the Freeze beat the Rampage, 27-10 and 32-14, respectively.

Rampage ready for last regular season home game
June 18, 2016
The Midwest Rampage (2-5) take on the SE Minnesota Warhawks (1-6) for their last regular season game of 2016; a win would most likely give the Rampage a #6 seed for the upcoming SPFL playoffs.  Kickoff is at 4:00 pm.

Freeze outlast Rampage, 32-14
June 12, 2016
Valiantly playing with only 20 players in sweltering heat, the Rampage (2-5) fell to the Med City Freeze (7-0) 32-14 in Rochester, MN, last night.  Down 13-2 at halftime, the Rampage closed the gap to open up the 2nd half, 13-8, before mistakes doomed them.  The Rampage return home for their final regular season game of 2016 vs. the SE Minnesota Warhawks (1-6) Saturday, June 18 at 5:00 pm in Carlisle.  For the upcoming SPFL playoffs, the Rampage will most likely be a #6 seed.

Rampage lose in Overtime, 20-14
June 4, 2016
It was a thriller to the end with the Rampage losing to the Bucks, 14-20 in Overtime.  'Nuff said.

Rampage vs. Bucks Part Two
June 4, 2016
The Midwest Rampage (2-3) take on the North Iowa Bucks (3-2) today at home in Carlisle with a scheduled 5:00 pm kickoff.  In Week 2 on May 7th, the Bucks edged the Rampage, 14-6, in Rockwell, Iowa, and the Rampage are looking to return the favor.  "It was a good game for us to lose," said Rampage Head Coach Matt Girdley, "as it woke us up to the fact that we have work to do and that no one will simply roll over for us since we are the Rampage.  This will be a good game for us."

Despite odds, Rampage dominate SW Minnesota Crusaders 31-16
May 22, 2016
The Midwest Rampage (2-3) snapped a 3 game losing streak as they traveled far, far away to Edgerton, MN, and defeated the SW Minnesota Crusaders, 31-16.  The Rampage (2-3) took their opening possession and marched down the field 75 yards to take a 7-0 lead on a RB Ross Haren 4 yard run.  However, after stopping the Crusaders (2-3) on their first possession, the home team was given a second chance on a miffed punt and eventually scored to even the contest.  The Crusaders then made a field goal to take a 10-7 lead before the Rampage regained it, 14-10, after DB Ray Parker returned an interception 45 yards for a touchdown.  However, the Crusaders returned the ensuing kickoff 99 yards to regain the lead for the final time, 16-14 before halftime.  In the second half, QB Brandon Estabrook connected with WR Jeromy Keehn on an 80 yard pass as well as WR Derrick Jackson for two other scores while K Chuck Tack added a 42 yard field goal as the "Black Plague Defense" did their thing.  The Rampage next take on the North Iowa Bucks (3-2) at home in Carlisle next Saturday, June 4th; the Bucks narrowly defeated the Rampage, 14-6, in Week 2 of this season.

Over the last two seasons, a Rampage vs. Hawgs games has seen scores of 10-7 (loss), 24-14 (loss), 23-20 (win), and 21-18 (loss).  However, playing flat while making mistakes, the Rampage (1-3) fell to the South Central Hawgs (4-0) 35-6 on the road last night to extend their losing streak to 3 straight games--something that hasn't happened since their inaugural season in 2010.  MLB John Elkin led the team with 15 tackles.  "We'll get it turned around," said Rampage Head Coach Matt Girdley, "I believe tonight we figured out some things about ourselves."  The Rampage next travel to Edgerton, MN, to take on the SW Minnesota Crusaders (2-2).

The Rampage Are Coming To Carlisle!
November 12, 2015
The Midwest Rampage is pleased to announce that for the 2016 the team is moving its base of operation to the Des Moines area and will be playing its home game in Carlisle.  Rampage Team President/CEO John Elkin said, "It's  not without a heavy heart that I'm moving base operations from Webster City to Carlisle, but if the Rampage is to continue, this is the best thing to do.  Since 2009, Webster City and the surrounding communities--including all of the businesses and fans--helped make us into a great team and organization.  We leave behind our home field--Stampede Stadium at WCHS--of which we invested $10,000 with the addition of a new scoreboard and goal posts.  However, with me moving to Carlisle in 2015 and no longer having the connections I once did in Webster City, this move will allow the Rampage to continue.  The Rampage, who finished 7-2 last season while advancing to the SPFL semifinals, will continue as members of the SPFL and Elkin was recently voted onto the SPFL Board of Directors.  "As of right now," Elkin said, "we have about 15 or so core players from last year's squad who have committed to playing so as always we'll get some new blood and again compete for the title."

Rampage take home 6/13 SPFL Position and League awards!
July 31
, 2015
Congratulations to the following Rampage players and coaches for earning 2015 SPFL honors as voted by fellow opponents and coaches:

MATT GIRDLEY - COACH OF THE YEAR
In two years as the Rampage head coach, Girdley has guided the Rampage to the Semifinals both seasons while compiling an overall record of 15-5 including a 32-22 victory over the Southwest Huskerz in 2014 who have only lost one game the past two seasons. It's notable to mention that Girdley was a unanimous selection for "Coach of the Year" honors by his peers.

GUNNAR WYATT - OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR
This season as a wide receiver, Wyatt, a former Buena Vista Beaver, hauled in 56 catches for 958 yards, 13 touchdowns, and one 2 point conversion--quite a feat considering he missed one game due to his medical school schedule. Gunnar returned 3 kicks for 57 yards while also doubling as the team's kicker in the absence of Chuck Tack where he was 14/16 for extra points and 6/11 in field goals with his longest field goal being 44 yards.

JOHN ELKIN - DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR
Elkin, the former Drake University Bulldog who is 44 years old, led the SPFL with 80 tackles while also collecting 5 quarterback sacks, two forced fumbles, and a pass deflection. In 9 games, Elkin and his league-best Black Plague Defense only allowed a total of 477 yards and 2 touchdowns on the ground while giving up 1,180 passing yards and 14 aerial touchdowns while collecting 14 interceptions as a unit.  Elkin was also the the 2011 MFA Defensive Player of the Year and the 2009 WFL Co-Defensive Player of the Year.

BEN JASS - BEST QUARTERBACK
Jass, who is 34 years old and a former Upper Iowa Peacock, completed 122/232 passes for 2,123 yards, 27 touchdowns, 1 2-point conversion, and 10 interceptions this past season. Additionally, Jass called 75% of the Rampage offensive plays which is no easy on-the-field task. Since taking over the helm the fourth game of the 2014 season, Jass has gone 12-4 as a starter while throwing for 3,701 yards along with 45 touchdowns.

GUNNAR WYATT - BEST WIDE RECEIVER
Wyatt was virtually unstoppable as a wide receiver--his own quarterback once said he could throw to him every play--and caught 56 catches for 958 yards, 13 touchdowns, and one 2 point conversion.

CHUCK TACK - BEST PUNTER/KICKER
Tack, who is 34 years old and who played collegiately at the University of Nebraska, goes by several nicknames including "Thunderfoot" and "Howitzer Time." Tack's leg was the first line of defense for the Rampage and was best illustrated by the fact that 18/22 of his kickoffs were touchbacks while he averaged 42.3 yards per punt. As a placekicker, he made 11/11 extra points and was 7/13 in field goals; however, his most impressive kick occurred when he made a 63 yard field goal on May 9 vs. the North Iowa Bucks.  Tack was also the 2011 MFA Special Teams Player of the Year and the 2009 NAFL Kicker of the Year.

Rampage fall to Hawgs in Semifinals, end season 7-2
July 14, 2015
At times in unbearable heat, the Midwest Rampage (7-2) lost to the South Central Hawgs (7-2) in the SPFL Semifinals, 21-18.  After taking an 18-15 lead with 6 minutes left, the Hawgs returned a punt for a touchdown and then outlasted the Rampage the last few minutes.  Team leaders included QB Ben Jass was 16/32 for 224 yards and 2 TDs while on defense MLB John Elkin collected 15 tackles and 1 forced fumble.  "It was a tough game all around... but that's what the playoffs are all about," said head coach Matt Girdley, "it's too bad we were without our top two rushers and second-leading receiver--combined they have scored 18 touchdowns but you have to play with you have."  The Rampage would like to thank all of its supporters and sponsors.  "Without the people and businesses that support us, the Midwest Rampage would be nothing, " said Team President/CEO Elkin, "but because of the love we get, we have gone 15-5 the past two seasons while advancing to the Semifinals.... so thank you to everyone."

Rampage bounce Wildcats from 1st Round, 46-6
June 28, 2015
For the first time in three meetings spanning two seasons, the Buffalo Ridge Wildcats  (1-7) had to travel to play the Midwest Rampage (7-1) and the result was a 46-6 Rampage victory which advanced the Black & Gold to the SPFL Semifinals for the second straight year.  "Much respect and kudos to the Wildcats," said Rampage LB/Team Owner John Elkin, "they only traveled 15 players but gave it their all the entire game; as we know, making that 4 1/2 hour trip is no fun and for sure it affects who travels or not."  The Rampage scored on their first play from scrimmage as RB Ross Haren went 63 yards for the touchdown as the Rampage never looked back.  QB Ben Jass was 17/24 for 305 yards and 5 TDs while the vaunted Black Plague Defense recorded 9 quarterback sacks, 3 by DE Eric Walcheka and 2.5 by DT Brian Miller.  The Rampage will have a mandatory league bye for the 4th of July before playing at home against the South Central Hawgs (6-2) on Saturday, July 11.  Stay tuned for final game time/location.

Rampage skeleton crew defeats Wildcats, 17-14
June 21, 2015
Traveling with a light squad consisting of only 19  players, the Midwest Rampage (6-1) closed out the 2015 regular season with a 17-14 victory over the Buffalo Ridge Wildcats (1-6).  The Black Plague Defense--which has only allowed one rushing touchdown this season--had another last game-on-the-line goal line stand with 0:11 seconds left in the 4th quarter to preserve the win.  Next up is the 1st Round of the SPFL playoffs with the opponent/location to be announced soon; the Rampage are the #2 seed in the playoffs which means as long as they win the 1st Round game, will host the Semifinals.  ***STAY TUNED***

Rampage and Hawgs clash for #2 seed
June 12, 2015
The Midwest Rampage (4-1) take on the South Central Hawgs (4-1) Saturday in the first-ever game at Northwest Hamilton High School in Blairsburg.  Last year, the Hawgs edged the Rampage, 10-7, in their regular season game and then knocked the Rampage, 24-14, out of the SPFL playoffs in the Semifinal Round..  "This will be a good game and while last year is last year, don't think for a second we have forgotten about those two games," said Head Rampage Coach Matt Girdley.  Kickoff is at 4:00 pm.

5 turnovers doom Rampage, fall to Huskerz, 34-16
June 7, 2015
The Midwest Rampage lost to the Southwest Huskerz, 34-16, as the Huskerz rode on the strength of its defense as it intercepted QB Ben Jass 5 times and returned three of them for touchdowns.  The Rampage limited the Huskerz to just 39 yards on the ground with 1 touchdown and 58 yards in the air with a touchdown, but poor field position and turnovers doomed the Rampage who fell to 4-1 on the season.  Next week the Rampage face the South Central Haws (4-1) as the two teams fight for the #2 seed in the upcoming SPFL playoffs.  The game will be at NE Hamilton at 4:00 pm.

Rampage beat Panic, 28-13, now face Huskerz in battle of last unbeatens
May 30, 2015

Convincing road win for Rampage over Grizzlies, 47-24
May 17, 2015
The Midwest Rampage improved their record to 3-0 and are now tied for 1st place in the SPFL after a solid road win versus the Albert Lea Grizzlies, 47-24.  The game started with only 3 unbeaten teams remaining in the league--the Rampage, Southewest Huskerz, and the Grizzlies--but with the Rampage leading 33-6 at halftime, it was apparent who for sure would remain undefeated in Week 3.  QB Ben Jass set a new team record with 436 yards passing as the Rampage racked up over 550 yards of total offense.  While the Grizzlies scored first on a block punt returned for a touchdown and then in the 3rd quarter on an interception return for a score, it wasn't until midway through the 4th quarter that Albert Lea's offense cracked the end zone; through the first three games, the defense has yet to allow a rushing touchdown.  "It was a solid game," said Rampage head coach Matt Girdley, "we won the battle in the trenches and our skill guys on both sides of the ball played lights out.  We still need to improve to get where we want, but heading into the bye week with a record of 3-0 and time to get guys healed is just where we want to be."  The Rampage next play Saturday, May 30 at home in Stampede Stadium at Webster City High School with a 3:00 pm kickoff.

Rampage travel north to face Grizzlies

May 9, 2015

Rampage falter in Semifinals, 24-14, end season with 8-3 record
July 8, 2014
The Midwest Rampage's quest for the 2014 SPFL season ended Saturday night in Truman, MN, with a 24-14 loss to the South Central Hawgs.  After taking the 2013 season off and switching from the Midwest Football Alliance (11 man) league to the SPFL (9 man), the Black & Orange was arguably the "Newcomer of the Year" as they went 7-2 in the league and 8-3 overall; included was a Week #9 thrashing of then-ranked #2 Southwest Huskerz, 32-22, who at the time were undefeated with a record of 7-0.  "It was a great season," said Team President/CEO John Elkin, "of course, our goal was to play for the SPFL championship, but considering that a year ago the Rampage didn't even play and the fact that we only had 4 preseason practices, I'd say the 2014 campaign was a MAJOR success!  I'd like to thank the entire team as well as their families, the team's support staff, our Sponsors, Troy Banning of the Daily Freeman-Journal, and the entire community of Webster City for supporting the Rampage this past season.  To go 8-3 and play the way we did was a feat unto itself."  The Rampage were ranked #8 in the country as of 7/8/14.  Congrats to the entire team.

"Rampage Country" welcomes Steele County with 51-6 1st Round beat down
June 28, 2014
The Midwest Rampage (8-2/7-2) totally annihilated the Steele County Warriors (3-6) in the 1st Round of the SPFL playoffs, 51-6, to advance to the Semifinal Round.  The Rampage jumped to a 15-0 lead on a pair of touchdowns and a safety before Steele County even knew what hit them.  A Rampage turnover deep in their own territory resulted in the Warriors getting a touchdown on one of the few positive offensive plays they had the entire game to narrow the lead to 15-6.  However, the Black & Orange then went full throttle on Steele County to increase  the lead to 31-6 at halftime.  "The first time we played the Warriors back on April 26," said Team President and MLB John Elkin, "we traveled a skeleton crew of 19 guys and got down to 16 due to injuries before escaping with a 14-13 victory.  However, for this game, without a doubt, we knew with our full strength offense, defense, and special teams, they didn't have a chance.  And they didn't--the scoreboard showed that."  The Rampage next travel to Truman, MN, to take on the South Central Hawgs (8-1) in the Semifinals next Saturday, July 5 at 7:00 pm.

Playoffs!  Rampage take on Steele County Warriors at home
June 27, 2014
The 2014 SPFL playoffs are here and the #3 seed Midwest Rampage (7-2/6-2) face the #6 seed Steele County Warriors (3-5) at home tomorrow with kickoff at 3:00 pm.  Earlier this season, the Rampage defeated the Warriors, 14-13, in Blooming County, Minnesota.  As always, admission is ***FREE***.

Midwest Rampage knock of #2 ranked Huskerz, 32-22 to be 7-2 and #3 seed in SPFL playoffs
June 22, 2014
The Midwest Rampage (7-2/6-2) defeated the Southwest Huskerz (7-1) in an epic battle to close out the 2014 regular season.  On the hottest day of the season thus far, the Rampage took a 3-0 halftime lead before exploding in the 3rd quarter on the strength of their defense and special teams to take a 25-7 early in the 4th quarter.  However, the Huskerz--proving why they are one of the top teams in the country--rallied to make the score 25-22 before another Rampage score put them up for good.  The Rampage are now the #3 seed in the upcoming SPFL playoffs and will face the Steele County Warriors (3-5) at home next Saturday, June 28 at 3:00 pm in Webster City.  Admission is FREE.

Rampage to take on #2 ranked and undefeated Huskerz in regular season finale
June 20, 2014
The Midwest Rampage (6-2/5-2) play their last regular season home game against the #2 Southwest Huskerz (7-0) in what should be a great game as both squads rank at the top of the SPFL in regards to offensive and defensive stats.  As well, this is, in a way, an "MFA Reunion" game as many current Huskerz players were members of the Sioux Falls Stallions back when both the Stallions and Rampage were members of the Midwest Football Alliance.  Kickoff is at 3:00 pm and admission is ***FREE***!

Rampage blank Bucks 66-0, set numerous records while securing Top 4 Playoff seed
June 8, 2014
It was a record-setting day for the Midwest Rampage (6-2/5-2) en route to a 66-0 victory over the North Iowa Bucks (0-6).  The Rampage jumped out to a 45-0 lead by halftime and by the game's end set six (6) new records:  Most Individual Yards Rushing (266 by RB Ross Haren); Longest Rushing Touchdown Run (96 yards by RB Ross Haren); Most TD Passes Thrown In A Game & Individual (4 by
QB Ben Jass); Most Extra Points In A  Game (9 by K Chuck Tack); and Most Points Scored In A Game (66).  Coach Matt Girdley said of the game, "Yes, it was a good showing for us but I have nothing but respect for the Bucks who traveled low numbers and played with their hearts the entire game and never quit." With the win, the Rampage secured a Top 4 playoff spot and depending on how the last two weeks of the SPFL season plays out, will be hosting a 1st Round game as a 2, 3, or 4 seed on June 28.  The Rampage will enjoy their BYE next Saturday before playing at home again versus the Southwest Huskerz at 3:00 pm on Saturday, June 21st.

Bragging Rights Battle:  Rampage take on Bucks
June 6, 2014
The Midwest Rampage (5-2/4-2) face the North Iowa Bucks (0-5) tomorrow at Stampede Stadium with kickoff at 3:00 pm.  The Bucks are the only other Iowa-based team in the SPFL as they hail from Mason City and such that, the victor will have bragging rights for the state.  Admission to the game is **FREE**.

Defensive battle ends with 10-3 loss
June 1, 2014
The Midwest Rampage (5-2/4-2) lost to the South Central Hawgs (4-1) 10-3 in hard fought game.  The Hawgs' running offense was limited to just 67 yards as the Black Plague Defense held them in check all game long including 5 different Red Zone stands.  However, poor field position hampered the Rampage offense the entire game and the lone score came on a 47 yard field goal as time expired in the 1st half by PK Chuck Tack to even the score at 3-3.  While the Rampage had several chances to tie the game late in the 4th quarter, it just wasn't in the cards.  On offense, QB Ben Jass was 15/23 for 174 yards and 2 INTs while WR Taylar Karas hauled 5 catches for 95 yards.  Defensively, the Rampage were led by MLB John Elkin who collected 14 tackles along with OLB Nick Plueger who had 10 stops along with an interception. CB Herb Bolden set a new team record with 3 interceptions in a game.  The Rampage next take on the North Iowa Bucks (0-5) at home next Saturday at 3 pm.

Rampage notch 5th win of season in 60-20 victory over Buffalos
May 25, 2014
The Midwest Rampage notched another win to improve to 5-1/4-1 this season with a 60-20 victory over the Tri-State Buffalos (1-3) on Saturday.  The Rampage scored on their first drive to go up, 7-0, before Tri-State responded to narrow the gap to 7-6.  However, the Black & Orange then turned it on and scored 47 unanswered points to take a 54-6 lead by the 4th quarter.  "The Buffalos are a total class act," said Rampage Head Coach Matt Girdley, "and it was the cleanest game we have participated in this season; it's obvious the SPFL holds all of its teams to high standards as I can pretty much say every team we have played respects both the game and their opponents." The Rampage next travel to Truman, MN, to take on the South Central Hawgs (3-1) at 7:00 pm.

Rampage gear up to take on Tri-State Buffalos
May 22, 2014
The Midwest Rampage (4-1) are gearing up to take on their next foe, the Tri-State Buffalos (1-2) at home this Saturday.  "We've had nearly a week to stew on our loss to The Panic," said Rampage Head Coach Matt Girdley, "and I believe the team is ready to prove they are better than they played last week."  Kickoff is scheduled at 3:00 pm and admission is *free*.

Turnovers plague Rampage in first loss to The Panic, 35-22
May 18, 2014
The Midwest Rampage (4-1, 3-1) lost their first game of the season, 35-22, to The Panic (2-1), on the road.  The Rampage threw 5 interceptions and lost a fumble in what still proved to be an exciting game.  Down 15-6 at halftime, poor field position troubled the Rampage all game long but they fought until then end against a classy Panic squad.  "For most teams, 6 turnovers would have resulted in a 30 point or so loss," said Rampage Head Coach Matt Girdley," and while The Panic did capitalize on some of those mistakes, our defense also made some tremendous stops... but the bottom line is we didn't show up ready to play and it cost us.  Losing is only a failure if you don't learn from it--and we will!" he concluded.  The Rampage are at home next Saturday to take on the Tri-State Buffaloes (1-2) who won their first game of the season with a 24-20 victory over the Buffalo Ridge Wildcats (0-4).  Kickoff is scheduled for 3:00 pm and admission is *free*.

Rampage travel north to take on The Panic
May 16, 2014
The Midwest Rampage (4-0) travel to Nicollet, MN, to play The Panic (1-1) on Saturday.  "In just its second year, the Panic are a very well-run organization with a lot of talent," said Rampage Head Coach Matt Girdley, "and from what I've been told, they play their home games in a cool setting... it should be a good game to watch." Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 pm.

Rampage roll Grizzlies, 37-12
May 10, 2014
The Midwest Rampage (3-0, 4-0) defeated the Albert Lea Grizzlies (2-1) at home by a score of 37-12.  After taking an early 7-0 lead in which they never relinquished, the Grizzlies narrowed the lead to 7-6 before the Rampage rolled to a 27-6 halftime lead.  On their second possession of the 2nd half, the Rampage had a 55-yard scoring drive to increase their advantage to 33-6 and before the extra point was kicked, the game was delayed for an hour due to lightning. After resuming play, the Rampage went up 34-6 but the Grizzlies scored on their next possession to make it a 34-12 score.  However, the Black Plague Defense--relentless all game--thwarted all of Albert Lea's attempts and a late field goal by PK Chuck Tack sealed the victory.  The Rampage next take on The Panic (1-1) in Nicollet, Minnesota, at 7:00 pm next Saturday.

Battle of the Unbeatens!
May 9, 2014
The Midwest Rampage (3-0) take on the Albert Lea Grizzlies (2-0) this Saturday at 3:00 pm at Webster City High School in a showdown of undefeated squads.  Kickoff is scheduled for 3:00 pm and admission is ***FREE***.

Midwest Rampage officially begin process to become members of Southern Plains Football League
January 11, 2014

After a strong showing at the Open Invite Training Camp earlier today, the Midwest Rampage are pleased to officially announce they are beginning the process to become members of the Southern Plains Football League (SPFL) based out of southern Minnesota.  The Rampage, last members of the MFA from 2012, currently have 25 players committed to playing in the upcoming 2014 season including 16 returning veteran players.  "Based on the size of our roster and the distance/travel of teams in the SPFL vs. the MFA," said team spokesperson John Elkin, "as well as factoring in the time frame of the SPFL schedule (which runs April 26-July 12)," we feel the SPFL is the best league for us."  Elkin then added, "While we do lose a long-time rival in the Des Moines Blaze as well as a few others such as the Iowa Sharks and Quad City Raiders, I'm sure we'll make a few new ones in the SPFL.  The MFA is a great league and it was our privilege to be both members of it as well as shape it into what it is now... but the Rampage now has a new adventure to embark on."  The SPFL owner's meeting in which the 2014 schedule is created is on February 1st.

H/M Tax Grant is a no-go; Rampage moves on to Plan B
December 13, 2013
The Midwest Rampage would like everyone to know that we were NOT considered for the Hotel/Motel Tax Grant in which we recently applied and presented for.  We are very disappointed because the intention of the grant is to "generate visitors to Webster City and/or to enhance the community's image" and while we respect the decision of the H/M Tax Board, we sincerely believe we fulfill both requirements.

For example, aside from our own out-of-town players who come to Webster City for practices and games, we have brought in 11 different opponents from 11 different cities ranging from Lincoln, NE, to Minneapolis, MN, for 15 home games the past 3 years.  As well, the Rampage has organized and participated in charitable events such as our annual Toy Drive and having a Dunk Tank at the Relay for Life Event. We also have had floats in both the Hamilton County Fair Parade as well as the town of Williams' 4th of July Parade.  Despite the Board's decision, we are still grateful that the H/M Grant Board provided us with funds in 2011 that purchased the goal posts at our home field.

Moving on to Plan B, the Rampage still plans on having FREE ADMISSION to all 2014 home games and NOT seeking sponsorships from businesses in Webster City whom have suffered economically due to the closing of Electrolux. That being said, if you would like to support Team Rampage, please email
admin@therampagefootball.com for more information or to set-up a visit with a team official.

Either way, the Midwest Rampage is proud to call Webster City home and we plan on representing our city by being the standard for non-profit organizations!
